Introduction

 Hello!

My name is Alyssa Adams, I am 25 years old and working towards my elementary school education through The University of Alaska Fairbanks. My family and I moved to Fairbanks exactly a year ago today and we have loved every minute of it. The trees, mountains, wildlife, and all the outdoor activities that are available here have been a blast exploring. I have two little boys ages 4 and 3 and since they were born they have been my life, with my husband in the army and leaving here and there it has been important for me to be able to be there for them but as time went on I had this strong feeling that I really needed to do more with my life than just being a wife and mom. I saw my husband building his career while I just watched and supported him and it honestly got hard. I wanted a career and to be able to help support my family, so that brings me here in my second year of college, and really excited for what's to come.

My Little Family!💛

When it comes to music my experience is very little. In elementary school, I played the violin for a season in like 3rd grade. In 6th Grade, I played the clarinet but I didn't have a lot of confidence in myself and knew that my rhythm wasn't very good. outside of playing those instruments, I don't have any other experience with music. A funny story actually my rhythm is so bad that when I was young my family and I would go to church and I would be clapping along with songs there were multiple times that my mom had to tell me to stop because I was way off beat. I enjoy listening to music like most people I would say really just whatever is popular at the time. I have only been to one concert and it really wasn't the best experience but I think that was mainly because I was 9 months pregnant and it was very loud, I was very uncomfortable and so was my baby. I would love to try and go to another concert at some point probably to a Post Malone concert if I had to choose. Currently, my favorite song with him in it is Dial Drunk.

I taught elementary school music for 21 years. I loved the experience. I wish you well on your career pursuit. New Grass - never thought I would hear Post Malone associated with that genre.
Aylssa, I appreciate your wonderful blog post. The photo of your family in the scenery is breath taking! I can relate to your complicated relationship to the clarinet. I also played in middle school and greatly lacked confidence. It is nice to hear you seem inspired by your new career path. Best of luck to you!

Nice to meet you Alyssa! I hope you continue to enjoy your time in Alaska! I bet it is very difficult taking classes while have two young boys. I regret not playing violin in middle school, instead I choose the cello. It is a lot more difficult to carry around a cello instead of a violin. Wish you the best of luck!
I love your blog Alyssa, it’s so pretty and pink! I think it shows a different side of everyone’s personality that we can’t picture in our minds. You are truly an inspiration to all those moms out there that debate on pursuing a career while having to manage kids. You Go Girl! I am cheering you on and that takes a lot to go to school while having a family at home. I think you will be an amazing teacher and I am proud of you for deciding on wanting to push yourself to go to school. Somedays I bet it’s definitely harder than other days but you're almost there! It truly takes a power of dedication and motivation to take it a day at a time. I also don’t have much experience with music or concerts but I would love to go to a Post Malone concert too! I think if Mac Miller was alive I think I would have definitely paid a lot of money to go to one. I knew a lot of people that played clarinet but I decided on the flute because of the corks cleaning, it seemed like a lot more maintenance in my thought process. Anyway, Great job on the blog, can’t wait to see more of your posts!
